Steps to Apply for Financial Aid

Step 1

Meet with the school’s Financial Services Team to learn about the Financial options available at the school including important information about applying for Federal Student Aid, which includes grants and loans.

Step 2

Complete and Submit the Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA)

FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form completed by current and prospective college students to determine their eligibility for student financial aid.

  • You will need an FSA ID https://studentaid.gov or If you have applied for aid in past years, you can reuse your FSA ID.
  • Establish your Dependency status. You’ll answer questions about your personal circumstances to determine whether you’re a dependent or independent student on the FAFSA. If you’re considered a dependent student, both the student and the established contributor must each apply for an FSA ID, using separate email addresses and complete their section of the FAFSA.
  • Click here to determine if you are considered dependent for Federal Aid purposes.
  • Complete your FAFSA and add our school code:
  • For the Bristol campus add school code: 005939
  • For the Blackwood campus add school code: 014877

Step 3

Meet with your Financial Services Advisor to review your Financial Aid Awarding and any uncovered balances at your Follow Up Appointment. This appointment is scheduled after your overview with Financial Services, or, after you complete the FAFSA at the school, if you chose to do so. At this appointment, the following items may be completed

Complete Verification, if applicable (if required you will be notified by your Financial Services office)

Verification is the process your school uses to confirm that the data reported on your FAFSA form is accurate. If you’re selected for verification, your school will request additional documentation that supports the information you reported on the FAFSA. This includes FAFSA’s selected for verification by the Department of Education, and FAFSA’s including conflicting information that were selected by the institution

If opting to utilize direct loans, you will need to complete Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note.

Sign all required forms and your Financial Aid Award Letter

All forms are listed in the Financial Aid Policies and Procedures. Your Award Letter shows the amount and types of funding being used to cover your program. If any extenuating circumstances occur after signing your Award Letter, please contact your Financial Aid Advisor for a Professional Judgement request

If there is a need for recalculation of awarding due to verification requirements, a subsequent ISIR received, or items needed, the Financial Services Office will contact you. She helped me with my resume and showed me how to apply. I got the job with Dietz and Watson! Pennco Tech was the right choice for me as I get ready to start my career.
